Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and driven Horticulture Lead Hand/Foreman to oversee the installation and maintenance of softscape elements, including lawns, garden beds, trees, and shrubs. This role involves working closely with the landscape designer, ensuring all landscaping tasks are completed to the highest standards.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on both high-end residential and commercial properties, creating and maintaining outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and functional. Key Responsibilities
• Lead a team in the installation and maintenance of sod, trees, shrubs, garden beds, and mulch.
• Prepare sites for sod installation, including grading, soil preparation, and fertilizing.
• Oversee lawn maintenance, including aeration, fertilization, mowing, and weed control.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, such as mowers, line trimmers, blowers, and other garden tools.
• Work closely with the landscape designer to ensure projects meet specifications.
• Create and manage maintenance schedules for plant care, lawn health, pruning, fertilization, and seasonal upkeep.
• Monitor plant and lawn health, diagnosing pests or diseases and implementing corrective measures.
• Maintain high-quality standards for all work completed.
• Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times to maintain a secure work environment.
Qualifications
Education:
Skills & Professional Training
Driver's License - G, Clean Driving Record
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in gardening, including sod installation and maintenance.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in landscaping is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of plant ID, turf management, plant care, soil conditions, and pest/disease management.
• Experience operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, and other large landscaping equipment is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret landscape blueprints and plans.
• Proficiency in operating landscaping tools and small equipment.
• Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions.
• Clean G class driver’s license. (driver’s abstract required).
• A, AZ or DZ license is an asset.
• Certifications such as Trade Certificate for Horticulture or Landscape Technician are an asset.
Compensation
$25 to $35/hour
