Job Description
This position will be responsible for partner recruitment, procuring contracts for materials and labour, monitoring subcontractors and planting partners, conducting survival assessments and general labour as needed.
Planting Partner Recruitment
● Assist in identifying and assessing potential planting partners for TFL
● Promote and secure partnerships for the “Hero Forest” program
● Help to gather information and manage data needed for NRCan and the 2 Billion Tree Program and other sponsor proposals and reporting
● Have conversations with prospective partners to determine planting capacity, project details, cost sharing ability, and other related matters.
● Partners include, but not be limited to nurseries, municipalities, conservation authorities, other NPO’s, institutions, service clubs, and other related parties/organisations.
● Provide counsel as needed to help improve partners’ tree planting efficiency and cost based productivity
Project Logistics Coordination (as needed)
● Securing planting materials and services (stock, labour, etc.)
● Assessing partners’ logistics and implementation plans to ensure partners operate efficiently
Ongoing Monitoring of Completed Projects
● Conduct annual written survival assessments on previous years projects managed by TFL, recommending those that may require additional long-term maintenance, prescribing said maintenance and sourcing contracts for maintenance as needed and with necessary approval – this may be done in coordination with TFL planting partners
● Liaising with past partners to determine survival rates for non-TFL managed projects
● Includes plantings related to both the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign as well as those supported by TFL
● Target a minimum of 80% tree survival

About this position
● Permanent, full-time
● Member of the staff leadership team
● Some evenings and/or weekend work as required to complete projects or to attend events
● This position requires travel from time to time
● Reports to the Executive Director of Trees for Life and the Development Director
● Trees for Life has a work from home model in place allowing for flexibility and fluidity in your weekly schedule
● Our office, when needed, is in Milton, ON at the 401 between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Rd
Qualifications
Education:
College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,, University Degree,
Skills & Professional Training
Driver's License - G
Required experience working in the landscape/environmental industry in a project management role.
Compensation
$75,000.00 to $85,000.00/year
