AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks Maintenance, this position leads and directs a designated geographical work area consisting of seasonal and unionized full time staff. Provides advice and guidance to staff.
•Plans, coordinates, schedules, recruits, trains, evaluates, and supervises all functions performed by staff, volunteers, and contractors.
•Co-ordinate training for all staff on procedures and equipment and Health and Safety
•Respond to public and internal complaints, concerns or inquiries and initiate follow-up action as required
•Assist in planning special events
•Assist in preparation, review, monitoring and control of district budgets
•Assists with establishing and prioritizing capital projects for Parks Maintenance and Operations.
•Inspect all work areas including parkland, buildings, structures and equipment to ensure productivity, proper operation, cleanliness and safety
•Performs on-call and other duties, as and when required.
Qualifications
Education:
College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
Skills & Professional Training
Driver's License - G
EDUCATION:
•Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Horticulture Science or equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum 3-5 years of parks experience with effective supervisory skills
•2-3 years supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential
•Knowledge of small and heavy equipment operation
•Use/operation of computers, including MS Office
•Excellent customer service/public relations skills
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Must possess a valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence; good performance and work record
Compensation
$88,458.00 to $99,516.00 /year
