Merchandising Supervisor Jeffery’s Greenhouses Inc Position Type: Seasonal Full-Time (Easter to mid-July) Part-Time Off-Season Permanent 1 Opening available in York Area Overview Jeffery’s Greenhouses Inc. is a wholesale distributor of spring bedding, tropical, and potted plants across Ontario. With an anticipated start date in December 2025, we are currently accepting applications for a Merchandising Supervisor, with a focus on candidates who have experience in Big-Box Retail and Garden Centre environments. The Merchandising Supervisor leads a team of in-store merchandisers, providing direction and support to ensure high-quality merchandising standards. This role is also responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Garden Centre Managers and executing the sales and merchandising plans established by Jeffery’s head office in St. Catharines, ON. Successful applicant will be expected to work in the following areas; Primary Responsibilities •Full Cycle Recruitment and Onboarding processes including hiring, training, scheduling and continually motivating merchandisers to achieve company sales targets. •Regularly visit assigned stores to ensure that company merchandising objectives are being met. •Build and develop relationships at store level by working in cooperation with store management and associates. •Communicate with merchandisers on a regular (and ongoing) basis to ensure assigned responsibilities are being completed and work schedule is being met. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills required. •Team building and leadership skills. •Organizational and multi-tasking skills. •University or college education in horticulture considered an asset. •Computer skills~ including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Internet Navigation. Physical and Environmental Requirements: •Repeated lifting required (up to 30lbs) •Standing and Walking for long periods depending on delivery requirements •Working outside in the elements •Home computer with internet access for daily communications with head office, stores and merchandisers. •Regular, daily store travel is required therefore you must have access to your own vehicle and be able to easily navigate between the stores. Required Qualifications: •Driver’s license •Supervising: 1 year •Merchandising: 1 year Locations: The York Supervisor will oversee a group of locations (Aurora, Bradford, Newmarket, Richmond Hills) averaging 10–15 km apart and will travel between them as needed for deliveries and maintenance. Travel time and mileage from the home store location will be compensated. Hours: Workload and hours vary throughout the year based on production cycles. The role follows a primarily seasonal schedule, with the busiest period in spring and lighter hours during off-peak months. Typical Seasons: •Spring Season (Easter to mid-July): Full-time hours with extended days and weekend work as required. •Late Summer to Fall (mid-August to mid-October): Reduced hours to support transition crops and tropical maintenance. •Holiday Season (mid-November to mid-December): Part-time hours focused on tropical plants and seasonal crops. •Tropical Program: Limited year-round work continues at reduced hours to support ongoing tropical plants. Additional Notes: •Work is primarily daytime weekday hours, but supervisors are expected to check and respond to time-sensitive communications as needed outside of regular hours. •Weekend work is required during the peak spring season. •Victoria Day Long Weekend: Supervisors are expected to work this weekend, with an alternate day off scheduled afterward. Travel: 100% Daily travel between stores is required.
