Operations Manager Etobicoke, Ontario Reports To: Owners Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About Us We are taking ownership of a residential landscaping business in Etobicoke effective January 1, 2025. The company currently consists of a 12-person operations team that serves residential properties across Etobicoke and nearby neighbourhoods. Our services include ongoing property maintenance, seasonal planting, softscape installations, select hardscape work, and snow removal. We are committed to building a professional, growth-oriented business that delivers dependable service, strong client relationships, and a positive team culture. With new ownership and a clear vision for expansion, we’re looking for a capable operator to lead day-to-day operations and help build the next phase of the business. Position Overview The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing crews, organizing field operations, and ensuring consistent service quality. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership environment and wants to help build a growing business. The ideal candidate combines operational discipline with a customer-first approach and has the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. As the business grows, this role will evolve — including the opportunity for minority ownership for high-performing individuals. Key Responsibilities • Operations & Crew Oversight • Plan, schedule, and supervise daily operations for multiple maintenance and softscape crews. • Lead morning dispatches and end-of-day debriefs. • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. • Oversee vehicle, equipment, and material logistics. • Track crew performance, productivity, and profitability. • Team Leadership • Recruit, train, and mentor crew leaders and team members. • Promote a culture of professionalism, safety, and accountability. • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance reviews. • Support seasonal staffing and training programs. • Client Relations • Act as the primary operational contact for key residential clients. • Conduct property walkthroughs and service discussions. • Address client concerns promptly and professionally. • Identify enhancement opportunities during site visits. • Estimating & Sales • Prepare estimates for maintenance contracts, planting projects, and softscape enhancements. • Collaborate with ownership on proposals, pricing, and service offerings. • Assist in identifying and pursuing new client opportunities. • Participate in hardscape project coordination when required. • Financial & Administrative • Monitor job costing, crew efficiency, and margins. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and workflow planning. • Maintain accurate operational records. • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards. Qualifications • 7+ years of experience in residential landscaping, including 2+ in a supervisory or management role • Strong knowledge of horticulture, planting, and property maintenance practices • Proven ability to lead field teams and manage multiple client properties • Experience with estimating and small project management • Familiarity with hardscape installation is a strong asset • Proficiency with scheduling, estimating, and CRM software (e.g., LMN, Aspire, or equivalent) • Valid G driver’s license with a clean record; DZ or equipment operation experience an asset Key Competencies • Leadership and accountability • Client-focused mindset • Operational organization and time management • Financial and analytical understanding • Adaptability & problem-solving • Professionalism and integrity Compensation & Opportunity • Market-based compensation, commensurate with experience • Health and dental benefits • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance • Performance-based bonuses • Defined pathway to minority ownership for high-performing, long-term team members
