Job Description
The Horticulturist is responsible for assisting with the designing and building of seasonal floral arrangements. With sound horticulture experience, the Horticulturalist will interpret and build landscape designs, enhance existing designs, and collaborate effectively with their team to execute work efficiently and to the highest standards. This job requires connecting with people quickly in an outgoing and friendly manner. The use of persuasive communication skills to gain the interest and involvement of others in the work process is an important aspect of the job. A faster than average work pace is necessary combined with impatience for results. Selling ideas to others and the ability to train, teach and motivate a team are strong aspects of this position.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma,, College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
Skills & Professional Training
Driver's License - G, Clean Driving Record
3+ years of experience in the horticulture industry preferred
Strong knowledge in landscaping tools, equipment, plant care and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennials
Experience in a team leader position and capable of coaching a small crew
Training and/or education in Horticulture
Valid 'G' driver's license, experience with operating a cube van and 1 tonne dump truck
Skid Steer/Bobcat operation experience is an asset
Compensation
$25 to $35/hour
