Reports to: Operations Manager and Owner
About the Role
Murray’s is seeking an experienced and strategic Landscape Construction Project Manager. This is a senior role for a professional with at least three (3) years of leadership experience who is passionate about creating functional, beautiful spaces that complement the unique landscape and climate of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As the Project Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of our award-winning landscape projects—from initial estimation and sales to construction execution and quality control. You will be responsible for leading crews, managing budgets, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship Murray’s is known for.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Operations
• Scope of work and tracking changes
• Risk Analysis
• Quality control
• Cost management
2. Sales, Estimating & Client Relations
• Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotes, and tender bids for residential and commercial projects.
• Client Management: Meet with clients to refine plans, solve issues, and communicate project updates in a polite and professional manner.
3. Leadership & Safety
• Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor construction staff. Lead the development of a skilled and motivated team.
• Safety Compliance: Collaborate with the safety committee to administer the company’s Safety Program, ensuring all Pre-Job Hazard Assessments and safety protocols are followed.
• Administration: Complete and submit all required daily paperwork and reports.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the landscape / construction industry in a leadership or project management role.
• Education: Not required but considered an asset would be a degree or diploma in the following: Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural or Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Project Management or a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturists.
• Licensing: Valid Driver’s License is required and access to own vehicle.
Skills & Competencies
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of landscape construction methods as outlined in the Canadian Landscape Standard.
• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience using LMN (Landscape Management Network), AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Cloud is highly desirable but not required.
• Financial Acumen: Strong ability to estimate costs, manage project budgets, and understand profit margins.
• Plan Reading: Ability to interpret complex landscape plans, take field measurements, and shoot grades in both imperial and metric systems.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while supervising diverse crews and sub-contractors.
