Job Description

About Us At Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, we believe in the power of nature to transform. Our team of designers, educators, builders, and nature advocates is on a mission to connect children with the natural world through thoughtfully designed play environments and educational experiences. We don’t just build playgrounds—we build meaningful experiences in nature that provide space for growth, creativity, and connection. Position Overview As our Landscape Construction Foreman, you will take the lead in constructing our unique, natural playgrounds that go beyond swings and slides. You will guide your team through the installation of natural elements like boulders, climbing features, and plants, transforming outdoor spaces into vibrant environments that spark creativity and adventure for kids of all ages. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will assist in planning, organizing, executing, and documenting the builds while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. If you are a seasoned landscaper who has enjoyed working in the field and is now ready to become more involved in planning, coordination, and crew development, this role is your next step. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership • Lead the installation of natural playgrounds and outdoor classrooms from start to finish. • Work closely with the Project Manager and Chief Operations Officer (COO) to plan and organize all phases of the build and to keep projects on schedule. • Use project management software to monitor project timelines, budget adherence, and crew performance to ensure successful project delivery. Team Management • Direct, motivate, and support crew members to deliver high-quality work. • Schedule crew members and assign tasks clearly to optimize productivity and ensure all tasks are completed within the project deadlines. • Support with the planning, hiring, and building of strong seasonal crews for upcoming projects. Safety and Compliance • Enforce all health and safety policies on-site. • Ensure everyone is following protocols and working safely at all times. • Run daily safety briefings and inspections to address hazards before work begins. Materials and Equipment • Order and manage the delivery of materials and equipment for each project phase. • Operate machinery (e.g., Mini-Ex, Skid Steers) and power tools in a safe manner. • Oversee the proper use of power tools and equipment, maintaining compliance with safety standards. Communication and Reporting • Maintain clear communication with the COO, even when the Project Manager is not on-site. • Provide daily updates on project progress, timelines, challenges, and next steps. Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in the landscaping or construction industry, with 2+ years leading crews. • Ability to read and build projects from blueprints and site plans. • Familiarity with project management software. • Strong organizational skills and experience in workflow planning. • Experience operating machinery, including mini-ex, skid steers, and other power tools. • A passion for working outdoors and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship. • Willingness to travel across Canada (up to 2-3 weeks at a time) and work Saturdays when required. • Able to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks. • A valid G license and a clean driver's abstract. • Bonus: Chainsaw operation experience and/or a valid AR license. This posting is for an existing vacancy. Our hiring process does not involve the use of artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants.
