Full Time Tree Planter Contract – Training Opportunities Summary Reep Green Solutions is an environmental charity that has been helping people in Waterloo Region live sustainably for 25 years. Our programs on home energy efficiency, water conservation, healthy yards, and waste reduction empower participants to take action. In short, we work together with the community on practical solutions for addressing and adapting to climate change. Objective of Position: The Tree Planter will enjoy an experiential learning environment working as a valued member of the tree stewardship team. The role will support Reep Green Solutions’ pilot Roadside Tree Planting Project, which will lead native afforestation efforts along regional and township roads in Waterloo Region. The role may also extend to other green infrastructure activities related to our Backyard Tree Planting project and stewardship events. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, works well in a team, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and enjoys physical work outdoors. Term: March 30, 2026 to June 12, 2026 with the possibility of extension. Hours: 4 –5 days/week, hours will vary with a minimum of 30 hours per week to a maximum of 44 hours per week depending on volume. Hourly Wage: $21.30 per hour Location: This role is on site at a variety of locations within the Waterloo Region. This role requires frequent in-person on-site meetings. # of Vacancies: 2 Reporting to: Manager, Native Tree Nursery Tasks & Responsibilities Conduct tree planting at scheduled locations as part of the Roadside Tree Planting Program Plan for and load daily required supplies Assist with planting site preparation (weed trimming, staking) Plant native tree seedlings in uneven terrain along rural roads according to specified guidelines Identify and inventory planted trees (training provided) Assist with inventorying and daily activity documentation Water and maintain tree stock at seasonal staging site Safely operate and maintain planting equipment to ensure its longevity Share responsibility to safely drive a pickup truck to planting sites In addition to these responsibilities, other tasks may be added as required by the organization Qualifications: Tree planting/horticultural or professional landscaping experience is preferred A diploma/degree in urban forestry, environmental studies or related field is an asset A current Emergency First Aid + CPR certification an asset Excellent attention to detail Experience working or volunteering with a not-for-profit organization is an asset Demonstrated interest in and commitment to environmental issues Interest in learning about tree species identification and growing preferences Courteous and cooperative attitude Experience driving a pickup truck is considered an asset Conditions and Requirements: Reliable access to a vehicle A full G driver’s license with proof of insurance and a clean driving record is required CSA-approved safety boots Ability to lift at least 50 lbs Ability to work in extreme weather outdoors doing physically demanding work A stable internet connection is required to connect with office staff.
